I changed the windows id in which i long in to xbox live .com with to a hot mail account which lists my age as 18 but i still have family setting with my account and i still need parental approval with some of my account options.So what do i need to do to actually to be able have a adult profile without getting the 'promote child account' button on mange account?

There are some content (demos and some) that are not allowed to be downloaded on an account with less than age 18 with adult status, however once downloaded, content can be used on a profile like that.How to change a xbox child profile to a adult profile(again)?If it's a child account then there's only one way to change it - the original parent / guardian account needs to access the child account - remove the EDIT inhibitor and reset the age. I recommend, changing the age to 21 just to ensure there's no confusion.
The child account affects ALL XBL content, including DLC but not necessarily the offline gaming. In otherwords, the console most likely reset itself to ban rated M material but that could be reversed by the original parent / guardian account.
Assuming you're legitimately an adult now, then simply have your parents / guardian follow the steps above. Otherwise, keep playing what you're allowed to play, sit and ferment for awhile.
