Red Ring of Death on my XBox 360?

I just got RRoD today, right now, playing halo 3 with my friends, on xbox live. And I have know idea what to do. And I have a couple (aka many) of questions:

Where is a good place to repair my xbox and how much does it cost?

I heard you can fix it with towels, what do I do with the towels?

Why does the red ring happen?

What does three red rings mean? Does it have to be four to be majorly bad?

Can I wait a week and start playing again?

And..... yeah Most answers and the best will get best anwser 5 starRed Ring of Death on my XBox 360?1) - Take it to the place you bought it - if not, mircosoft has lots of info about where to send it.

(You still have the receipt right? Did you buy it used? Have you had it for less than 1 year? Less than 3? If so, it's probably still covered under warranty. - You'll need to send it back, but they'll at least fix it. This has happened to my cousin 4 times. And I've already had the experience of watching my Xbox360 get tossed down the garbage chute.)

2) The towel fix. Don't bother. It *MIGHT* work and if it does, it's only temporary -it could RRoD again in 20 minutes or a day, either way, your 360 is still pooched and the towel fix could bust things even further.

3) The red ring happens: Long story short - Very, very poor construction. I'm no one special and I know 11 Xbox owners - NONE of whom are using still the console they bought, ALL of them have RRod'd. They have an extremely high failure rate. It's a horrible marketing move on Microsoft's part and it's also the reason why I, honestly, wouldn't buy a brand new xbox for 50 bucks. Most of the irreplaceable RRoD are due because the chipset has overheated or contact silver has melted.

4) The 3 red rings is the worst of the Red Rings. 4 Rings means it's a video hook up problem which is easily fixed. Another long story short: 3 rings means you're f**ked.

5) You can wait a week and the only thing that will change is you will have aged a week. You need to have your console fixed.

If it's under warranty DO NOT TRY AND FIX IT YOURSELF! They won't fix it if you screw up.

If it's NOT under warranty, your options are: Buy a new xbox360, take it to those %26quot;xbox repair shops%26quot; that will charge a fee or go online and try your luck at the %26quot;X-clamp%26quot; fix or other guides. Very risky, but sometimes it'll work.

Sorry man. I was in your position about a year ago. It's infuriating and I'll never buy anything xbox360 related again.Red Ring of Death on my XBox 360?1-800-4-my-xbox you call them and set up a repair order you should have a free 3 year repair warranty

you can fix it with towels but its only a short term solution youll have to re-do it a lot and in the long run it

will completely kill your xbox and void your warranty. but heres a video of how to do it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avWs4-wD1

the rrod happens because the older xboxes dont dissipate heat and they warp the mother board popping the chips out.

and the three red rings means a general hhard wardfailure. the different lights lit up in different patterns means different problems

and chances are no you cant wait a week because the hardware is already broken

hope that helpsRed Ring of Death on my XBox 360?so you have 3 red lights? 3 lights just means there's something wrong with the power connections, or there's something wrong with your power supply. if that's your problem, try unplugging everything, shutting everything off, then plugging it back in, and turning everything back on. if you've been using it for a long time, give it a rest. hope this helped.Red Ring of Death on my XBox 360?Hey, this happened to my son recently, no idea why it happens but I sent the Xbox to Xbox and they repaired it, no cost, and shipped it back. See %26quot; https://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/default.aspx %26quot; for specifics. Good Luck!Red Ring of Death on my XBox 360?let me google that for youRed Ring of Death on my XBox 360?the BEST place to repair you xbox is at Microsoft, all you need to do is call them up and tell them your xbox red ringed, they will sent out a box with return labels and packaging instructions for free, this takes a week or two but it is your best bet (just make sure you didnt void your warranty)

the %26quot;towel trick%26quot; only works for a little bit and most of the time it works but only for a few hours and you can actually make your xbox worse with this

the red ring is a failsafe, it pretty much tells you that your mother board has warped and that if it didnt happen your xbox would short and potentionally short circuit

the three red rings ist based on the severity of the problem, if it was four it would just be a different problem, not that it was worse it could just be that your AV cable was unplugged

sometimes it goes away (happened to me a few times) but once it red rings and the xbox displays NOTHING on the screen, then its time to call up microsoft
